NASB review

Don't miss today's blog post from Rick Mansfield, the third in his series of reviews of his top ten favorite English verions. Today's post is a review of the NASB.

I have fond memories of beginning to use the NASB when the New Testament was first published in the late 1960's. I was a student in Bible school. A number of us used the NASB for personal evangelism. Today I use Bible versions which have more natural English, but back then, in "the good old days," the NASB was an improvement in English over the KJV or ASV which we Bible students had previously used. I think some students in my Greek classes would use the NASB as a crib.

The NASB was my first serious Bible too. Somehow I had purchased a New English Bible and then wondered at it over and over until I got my NASB.

The stories I heard were that it was good for Hebrew as well as Greek! (Who would have done so?)

The NASB is an excellent Bible, a little stilted in places, but very accurate.
